Updates Galore

Alrighty so now for some updates. Some of you may have noticed that I'm back now. Well, just to confirm it, yes I'm back now. I had to replace my Video card AND my DVD Burner (It had a problem recognizing and reading CDs for some reason) and it also cost me $138 all together too :(

Anyways enough about that though. I do have some good news to share. I apologize for the wait, but I promise releases. First of all, we're going to finish Zero no Tsukaima Season 2. Ya, I know it's almost a year old now, but we've released 10/12 episodes. And the other 2 were translated as well, so I'd kinda like to see it get finished.

Secondly, I'm not sure when, but at the same time do any of you guys remember a group called Kaze no Koe Fansubs (KnKF)? Remember how they released 9 episodes, or maybe 10, of Tsubasa Chronicle Season 2? Well most of this group's core members also came from KnKF, and the TL worked really hard on those episodes, and translated them all for us. Unfortunately due to various circumstances that project was dropped. But I still have most, if not all, of those scripts and a lot of them were actually pretty much ready for Encode. So I'm going to try and get that released as well, just so that it doesn't go to waste.

I'm also working on finishing off another older series that Lunar started but never finished, called Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch. Lunar released the first 39 episodes, and then got stalled. They haven't shown any life for that project since last September and I'm sure there are a few people out there who would like to see the rest of it. So I'm going to start at episode 40 and finish it off. I should be able to have the first release of that ready within a week or two, depending on how things go. And if that works out good, I plan on subbing the sequel, Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch PURE as well, as no anime should ever go unsubbed. Especially if someone subs the first few episodes and then drops it, it's not fair to the people who want to see the rest of it.

Ok so you've heard about the 3 older series that I plan on finishing off and releasing, so now you probably want me to talk about newer series, like something from this Spring season. Well sorry to say, you won't see anything from Toki during the Spring season, HOWEVER! I plan on picking up 2 brand new projects this summer during the Summer season. I won't say which ones yet, but please look forward to them and don't count us as dead yet.

Quick Update

For those of you wondering:

I still don't have my computer back, but I know for certain what the problem is now. The fan for my Video Card broke, so my video card overheated literally melting a chip or two on the board itself. And it looks like to replace the Video Card with one equal to what I already have will cost me $49 + $25 for their work fee. And they might charge me a little extra for the cleaning as well, I'm not sure. So I'm looking at spending anywhere from $75 to $100 on this, cause I can't even say for sure that the $49 quote I'm giving you for my video card is right or not, I'm just going by their website, and what they give me might change depending on what they receive. Any help anyone wants to offer will be appreciated, but not necessary. I guess this week I just can't put any money away into a savings account, that's all...

Ok so it seems I might have been wrong about it being a monitor problem... After speaking with Edward_K and noticing a few new things on my own, I'm told it might actually be a problem with my video card and not my monitor. This new revelation came to me last night when I found an old monitor in my basement and hooked it up to my computer and found out it was doing the exact same thing as my first monitor and what are the chances that the same thing could happen to 2 monitors? That and I started to notice that my computer would get to a certain point in booting up and then reset on itself, and that didn't sound like something my monitor would cause... Anyways, a half decent - Good NVidia Video card costs a lot less than a new monitor, so if that's the case it won't be as expensive for me to fix anymore and I might even be able to afford it on my own.

Still Looking for New Monitor

So after a few setbacks and the fact that I'm saving up to go to 3 Anime Conventions this year, 1 in Canada and 1 in the US, I don't have a whole lot of money anymore unless I use some of my money that I'm saving up, and I was going to buy a used CRT off a coworker, but that's not looking all that good anymore. So then Edward_K said this: <@Edward_K> maybe petition for donations on the website to cover the monitor

That thought had honestly never occurred to me. I could care less if I'm getting a 17" CRT or a 17" LCD monitor, I just need a monitor and I would like it soon. I know we might have been a bit of a disappointing group after OverDrive but that's just because of a lack of Translators... Anyways, if you want to donate to helping me get a new monitor so I can stop using the spare computer that I'm not supposed to be using, please donate and send me an e-mail telling me that that's what you're donating for... So basically here I am, still dead in the water. Thought I had a Translator for a while there, but he never showed up again after his first visit, so I don't know if I'll see him again or not.

That said my monitor just died. I was watching the second episode of the new Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien Season, and I guess it couldn't handle all of the bullshit in it, so it killed itself about 3/4 of the way through the episode. So I won't be online very much/at all for a while. So if you happen to come to our IRC channel and want to join us just talk to Ryuinichi (Or however he spells his name) or Floof or Paul and I'll make sure I get the message whenever I'm online. Or just e-mail me at tokifansubs@gmail.com and just be patient, one way or the other I'll eventually get the message.

Help Needed

Ok so I'll bet most of you are wondering why you haven't been seeing much, if anything from us, since the end of OverDrive. There are reasons for this.

First all of my Translators left. 2 disappeared, 2 were too busy in real life to continue TLing right now. And a 5th left for other reasons.

Next my ONLY xvid Encoder left me. Now some of you might not view this as a big loss and some of you probably don't even like xvid anyways and prefer h264, but there are some people out there who, for various reasons, can't watch h264 which is why I always like to provide xvid as well as h264.

And obviously, with no Translators I don't have anyone who can do Translation Checks either.

So there you have it. I'm in desperate need for Translators, I'll take either Chinese to English or Japanese to English. If you're Japanese to English, expect to do some TLCs for other projects here and there.

Any translator that might join us will also get to pick what Anime they want to translate.

And finally I'm also in need of another xvid Encoder.

Those are the 2 things I desperately need right now.

New lay-out

I was getting bored with the skin and thought we needed something light! I generally prefer lay-outs based on black, but that was a no-go with the beautiful weather I've been having today.
Green for spring, white for the anti-dark feelings from the winter!
I hope you like it, leave comments on it on the forums.

As for releases; ZnT has been stalled due to QCers disappearing, idling and not doing a lot. Also we've had some problems with the ftp, making it hard to make progress at all. We are working on other stuff than ZnT, but it isn't anything from this season.

If you know a JP->EN translator, or if you are one yourself, stop by and help us! We're well staffed at anything, except for translators. As translator you may choose any anime really.

Over Drive Finished!

We've also batched all episodes up yesterday for your (and our) convenience.

As for this season, we won't be doing any new series due to a lack of (interested) translators. So, not like you know, but this is secretly a call for translators. =D

Lunar Games

So I meant to make mention of this last night but I forgot. I spent $120 buying both games off of ebay a couple weeks ago, and I doubt I'll regret it. Just wanted you guys to also know I wasn't really serious when I was asking for donations to help buy them. I mean I wouldn't turn those donations away, but they aren't needed. If you're going to donate I prefer you donate to the entire group and not just me.

That said I might not be here a lot right now as I've started to play the Lunar games and I have no idea how long that'll take or how absorbed I get.

OverDrive 24 - 26

So first of all Ryu's Haiku isn't bad, but you shouldn't use contractions in a haiku, cause they kinda screw up the syllables a bit...

Here's a Haiku I made back in High School based on a true story too:

A Woman spends years
Caring for her father's de-
composing body

Story behind that was a mentally challenged woman didn't realize that her father had died so she continued to care for him as if he was still alive for about 3 years before neighbors reported the smell to the police and that was when they found the woman's father's decomposing body.

And on a more serious note, as some of you have noticed OverDrive 24 is out, and as for 25 - 26 I'm hoping to get them both released at the same time or pretty close to it, this weekend.

I won't reveal who donated what and how much, but you people know who you are, and I just want to say to you: Thank You Very Much. I appreciate your donations and promise they will be put to good use.

I also promise the rest of you that the last 3 episodes of OverDrive are being worked on in my absence and I still look forward to releasing them shortly after the New Year, if it wasn't for this song insert in 24 I had hoped to have the rest of it out by now, I promise you it will be worth the wait though and you'll finally get to see who wins the race in episode 24.

And with that said, I would like to take this chance to wish you all a Happy New Year, even if I am a few days early, and I'll see you again in 2008.

I'm leaving town til the end of next week, however I'm having other staff members do the jobs I was supposed to do for OverDrive so that we can hopefully release 24 - 26 sometime shortly after I get back next week. The Lunar Video Game Series

Ok so here is the thing. I was browsing YouTube this afternoon looking for some good Anime Music Videos, when I suddenly stumbled upon an ending for a game called: Lunar Eternal Blue. I couldn't understand anything being said in the ending though cause it was all Japanese. So then I did some research on the series, since I remembered playing a ROM for a game called Lunar once and liking the game very much. And in my searching I found the article on wikipedia about the series and found out that Lunar: Silver Star Story and Lunar: Eternal Blue both had an American Sony Playstation release, and that those releases updated the games and made them better.

So I thought, you know what? It is Christmas time and all, maybe I'll mention this to all of our Leechers/Over Drive fans and see if there are any Rich Kids out there who want to buy the games for me/ And if there are I even found where you can buy them for me:

No OverDrive This Week

Ok guys, I know I promised I'd make a release before the end of the week, and I really really wanted to follow through with that promise too. I have it about 90% ready for release... But there is a Song Insert in Episode 24 that no one told me about until last night, so I'll need a few more days before it's ready, as I'm not going to release an episode without fully translating the song and adding some Karaoke Effects to it and everything. So again, I'm very sorry about this, but I promise to have it out as soon as I can.

These past... 5 releases and OverDrive - 23

So umm, lets see... I guess I've made 5 releases this past week, 6 if you count the v2 for OverDrive - 21... So where should I begin? The torrents are up for all of the releases. It's fun playing with you guys in #toki-fansubs. Though part of it is cause I'd like to see more people idle in there more often and I'd like to keep raising the number of people we get in the channel... Currently the channel has peaked at 284 users...

And that brings us to our next topic... OverDrive 23. I promised you guys I'd release it this weekend sometime, I was aiming for Sunday night then it looked like it might happen Saturday night instead, but unfortunately not everything happens that fast all the time. So ya, it'll be released tomorrow after I get home from work... What time that will be, well that's for me to know and for you to sit patiently to wait and find out. Also when I release lets see if we can get the channel to peak over 300 this time, if we do maybe I'll get OverDrive 24 out before the end of next week as well... I guess that's about all from me...

Over Drive - 21

Ok so I made my first release tonight as the new group leader. Now I had some problems, mainly in the fact that I've never made a Torrent before... And even when I received some help in that area and had the torrent made for me, I still had problems with it. So as of right now, I've released it onto DDL and I've DCCed it to the bots in the channel as well, so it should be available on those bots within a few hours as well. The main problem right now is the torrent, I'm not sure when that will be available.

Well, as of today, I've officially quit fansubbing, hopefully this time for good. Not feeling I'm the proper leader for this group. (Due to really just not having a lot of time these days and my recent loss of interest in fansubbing all together.)

Therefore, I'm leaving the group to a guy I know who will hold the same passion I once did, and provide you guys with possibly better quality once it's all said and done. You all know him (DOUBT IT!), His name is Ga-Wait that's only what we call him, his real name is Sparhawk.

So good luck to him and the rest of these gifted staff members. I really hope they'll sail on calm waters and succeed where I can not.

Well, hate to say it, but this isn't a new release post. This is a recruiting post =). We're currently in serious need of dedicated Editors, Quality Control, Translators and BT Seeders. =(.

Editors- Not a lot required, you must be able to download raws and edit the subtitles, (in notepad or aegisub doesn't really matter which) you will be expected to apply proper grammar and spelling to the subtitles.

Quality Control- Because things do slip through the cracks, basically you will be expected to download pre-releases as they pop up on our ftp, you will watch the pre-release, and note errors such as spelling, timing, audio, typesetting, karaoke, everything in general, that could be considered an error.

BT Seeders- Basically you get a release before everyone else, and when the torrent is up, you seed it, pretty simple, ne?

Translators: Saved the best for last, and hardest to find. Pretty simple, if you can translate Japanese to English, we need you for winter and spring series that are coming up. Since we have TLC, we wouldn't mind Chinese to English translators either.
